Nottingham and Beeston

4 February, London: Assemble 11am Saturday 4th February at the US Embassy 24 Grosvenor Square, London W1A 2LQ followed by a march to Downing St.
Academics in the USA have launched an online protest which, as of Sunday evening UK time, had nearly 5000 signatures including 35 Nobel Laureates and 34 winners of Fields/Dirac/Clark/Turing/Poincare Medals, Breakthrough Prize, Pulitzer Prize, MacArthur Fellowship.

  1. Glasgow Working Class said,

Strange how people from the UK think they can determine the immigration policies in another country. The USA have the right to self determination and moreso since the Jihadists are killing at their leisure.

    • Jim Denham said,

No, your right, GWC: we must never oppose another country’s policies; here’s the example Mrs May has so wisely followed:

“My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Go home and get a nice quiet sleep.”

      • Glasgow Working Class said,

You are comparing Trump to Adolf then Jim! Death camps set up in the USA next I suppose. When Obama banned Iraqis from the US not a peep from the clever people. This is just an anti Trump movement…The US decide who enters their country.
I look forward to the US embassy moving to Jerusalem that will bring the loonies out in force.

      • Mick said,

One thing to remember about these protests is that they only look big on the outside.

Unbending protest organisers may have quite a number of people to call on for petty civil offences and even riot, alright, but so long as you remember the numbers are way off what’s needed to win an election on those platforms.

  2. Mick said,

The raging Reds should at least be grateful for the work! Their dreams have come true, they are the new social heroes to rescue the world from the curse of not thinking in exactly the same way they do!

The Left are existential threats to Britain. This time they want to forgo plum trade deals if it means being spiteful to Mr Trump.

  3. Joe Baxter said,

The incessant drivel posted by these two has driven away any sensible and/or interesting commenters – about time you banned their repetitious, brain-dead trolling.

    • Mick O said,

It’s up to others to engage with them. No good ignoring the fact that there are millions out there with these views.

    • Mick said,

Aah. But it’s common in the left to either be too cowardly or too weak to truly debate.

That’s why ‘safe spaces’ and ‘trigger warnings’ are getting more popular with them. It’s ‘micro aggression’ to comment on blogs and it’s either pleasing or irritating, depending which side I’m out of bed from.

      • Glasgow Working Class said,

Are you thinking of socialist unity or does it still exist!

      • Mick said,

Well I had a little look and yes, they do! It’s a bit dusty and covered in cobwebs but it still chugs along.

I loved this from the Corbyn speech they printed:

“Whether you voted to Leave or to Remain, you voted for a better future for Britain.

One thing is clear, the Tories cannot deliver that. So today I want to set how Labour will deliver that vision of a better Britain.”

Yeah, by resigning, I gather. Or whining that it’s just not fair to have a three-line whip to have even an arch-rebel like Corbyn gets matters in order!

      • Joe Baxter said,

There is no ‘debate’ with either of these two – no attempt is made by them to engage with the arguments expressed in the main pieces or the responses.

      • Mick said,

There’s certainly no argument in a list of nationwide whinge-fests, or throwing other tantrums and names at leading politicians way more popular than we here could ever be.

Listen, just feel good for the successful people. Mother and Father are spending time together and complimenting each others’ qualities well. And all the children running riot are enduring their Terrible Two’s!

        Aren’t you, Left! debate that!

    • Glasgow Working Class said,

      Are you sensible and interseting?

    • Jim Denham said,

Reply to Joe Baxter (#3): we’re always loath to ban people from commenting, but have been known to in extreme circumstances. Glasgow WC was shown the yellow card some time ago, and for while this seemed to have some effect, but now he (I’m guessing it’s a “he”) seems to have returned to his old ways (ie, stupid, ill-informed abuse for the sake of it). His new pal Mick is even worse – devoid of any serious arguments or anything worth engaging with.

When we ban people (apart from the odd fascist) it’s usually not becuae they’re right wing or even stupid: just that they have nothing interesting to say.

If these two clown are, indeed, driving away serious commenters, then we’ll certainly have to give serious consideration to giving them the bum’s rush.

      Anyone else got any thoughts?

      • Mick said,

        Yes, I have.

If I’ve nothing of use to add, why not leave me up for the others to expose? Surely that would be easier, not harder, in a world of feelings-based politics?

      • Glasgow Working Class said,

Jim, there are those of us who see the Crescent Moon Islamic sign as the same as the Swastika over the Reichstag. Violent dictatorial and genocidal. Trump in my opinion is taking them on and I have no interest in those left apologists who every time Jews are killed use the Palestinian angle as an excuse…. Islam is fascist… Now if you want to ban people who do not conform to the views of others then it is easy for you to press the button….And for a condescending bloke like Baxter who cleary thinks he is superior intellectual being to attempt to ban free speech then do beware.

      • Mick said,

And it goes even wider than that, much as I agree with you, Glasgow.

Jim’s the boss and he can run the Bounty how he likes, which includes me getting the blame when someone else says I’m a braindead troll.

Well, OK, if that’s the way it rolls. This isn’t the real world.

But out in the real world, the left behave exactly the same. And that’s part of how people voted for Trump, Brexit and the Tories in 2015. And while it’s nice that those brats in their terrible two’s outside only embolden Trump and his supporters, it’s also worrying such tantrums are used to bully wider society into accepting the whole package of Sharia and the Koran uncritically.

After all, who wants to be fired, tarred and feathered for complaining about things whose victims are often still somebody else yet?

    • Glasgow Working Class said,

Oh what a sensible superior bloke, you are lost to the human race.

  4. februarycallendar said,

If you really want to be taken seriously as “anti-Trump” then you must – *must* – write “protest against”, not as this post is headed.

    • Glasgow Working Class said,

I must and vill follow orders meine Fuhrer.

  5. Mick said,

And as a last word, Obama himself identified these seven majority Muslim nations as threats to the USA – Muslims less than 20% of all of them globally – so Trump only did something about REAL GRAVE THREATS.

And for leftards crowing that ISIS will only behave badly in response? HAH! They do anyway! Nobody in the Presidency needs neither the blessing of them or the Left.
