I think they were both wrong. Would like to make suggestion -with his victory and release of film Suffragette, how about adopting their “March of the Women”? Check the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.
During the British occupation of India and under the reign of Queen Victoria the great famine from the 1860’s onwards killed more than 5 million people. This is not counting those that died of hunger in the Deccan Plateau famine, estimated at around 2 million. At the time, British plantation corporations were exporting grain, rice and pulses from India in huge amounts. These huge stores were not released to feed people as it would interefer with ‘free trade’ and lower ‘prices’. Starving people that approached warehouses were shot at. Is Queen Victoria one of the great mass murderes of history along with Stalin and Hitler? To find the average life expectancy of copper miners who work for Rio Tinto or child workers in Bangladesh is easy. Look it up and then tell me capitalism does not kill millions.
My dear caseypurvis, Rio Tinto are operating today as are the major capitalist corporations that exploit cheap labour, weak states and desperate people. I give a sign of a continuity not a discrete historical moment. This seems obvious to me, but perhaps you do not see it.
You should mix your petrol with water before you drink it.
It’s ok, he now says that he will sing the national anthem, that he will stay in Nato, that he will stay in the EU, that he won’t scrap Trident and that he wont cut the armed forces budget. Ahhh Jeremy, wrong-footing his right-wing critics time after time. Will they ever trip him up? I’ll bet he won’t end austerity either!
