Anita O’Day: That Old Feeling

November 17, 2014 at 1:30 am (jazz, Jim D, love, song)

I saw you last night…

I saw you last night and got that old feeling
When you came in sight, I got that old feeling
The moment that you danced by I felt a thrill
And when you caught my eye my heart stood still

Once again I seemed to feel that old yearning
Then I knew the spark of love was still burning
There’ll be no new romance for me, it’s foolish to start
‘Cause that old feeling is still in my heart

Great! Thanks for the post. Sent me off an Anita trail through YouTube. There’s some nice work of hers with the Krupa Big Band from the 40’s though she really came into her own in the 50’s.

Anita with the Krupa Band and Roy Eldridge: ‘Let Me Off Uptown’: fabulous!

Yes that’s great. I used to have an LP of the Krupa band with a couple of Anita tracks including Drum Boogie. Good stuff! You probably know it but her 1957 appearance at Newport is something to see as well. It’s on youtube.

Ah yes: high as a kite and wearing “that” hat …

…. it’s a nice piece of film, not only because of Anita ( and the hat ), but the crowd of cool 50’s people digging what she had to offer is also note worthy.

    Perfect. Almost too perfect.
