It’s A Wonderful Life: the Fox News version

December 24, 2013 at 12:14 am (Christmas, cinema, economics, fantasy, film, humanism, Jim D, red-baiting, satire, solidarity, United States)

This comes courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel, via Gene at That Place. The entire clip is worth watching (dealing, at first, with the burning question: “is Santa white?”), but the classic film trailer starts at around 2.10:

Below: clip from dangerous leftist subversive Frank Capra’s 1946 ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ before it became the ideologically acceptable ‘Mr Potter and the Commies of Bedford Falls’ (NB: children and impressionable adults should not be allowed to watch this unsupervised):

All sorts of age old pictures that bring memories to many i would presume on this line of hard held child values and suffering,a better world the American thought, xmass trees full of promise as others not like us scavenge.

I dislike the idea of xmass, today corporations biggest earner,as the wage slave que to get that gift that they don! know about.

Is not capital and its tools of usury credit and its profit debt its lifes blood,a curse on our birth humanity.

Can it, Denham. You’d hate to live in Stewart’s dreary small town and would vastly prefer the Vegas style Babylon, where a jazz band could get a gig.

Rosie: ya got me bang to rights: I have to admit that, having just watched the film on TV, it did indeed strike me that there was plenty of boogie-woogie and hot jazz to be heard in the bars and bordellos of Pottersville: a lot more exciting than boring old Bedford Falls, where no jazz was to be heard at all.
