No better cause this Xmas

“They make you feel like a criminal, when you haven’t done anything wrong” – Adebowale Falonde, 14, removed from school in the middle of his GCSE’s.

There are many good causes around at this time of year, but surely none better or more appropriate than the New Statesman’s ‘No Place For Children’ campaign.

…and the campaign isn’t even after your money: just your name on their petition, and your commitment to raise this scandal with your MP, inside your trade union, and wherever you can. As New Statesman journo Alice O’ Keefe (whose report from Yarl’s Wood detention centre last Xmas gave rise to the campaign), says: “Let’s hope 2009 is the year the government finally grants all children in Britain their most basic right to liberty.”
