Any excuse to run a clip of the great Mr Armstrong. This is from the 1936 Bing Crosby movie ‘Pennies From Heaven.’ Behind the masks the band includes Lionel Hampton on drums and Joe Sullivan on piano:

Scary, isn’t it?

I’ve shaken hands with someone who has shaken hands with Louis Armstrong!! I was visiting the old slave fort in Kormantse (in Ghana) and the guide said that he’d met Louis on two separate occasions (as that is where Louis had traced his ancestry back to, and he apparently used to travel back to Ghana to get a sense of his origins). Only problem was that the guide kept on referring to him as “Neil Armstrong” !!
