As well as being a good guy politically and a very clever satirist, he was also a superb draftsman. Sadly, in the last few years of his life he suffered from failing eyesight, which made fine line work and cross-hatching impossible and so forced him to give up his cartooning. The same thing happened to his nearest UK opposite number, Wally “Trog” Fawkes.
