I don’t like to bring this up, but…
…no-one seems to have noticed…or, at least, commented:
3/ Lord Lucan
4/ Voltaire’s Priest…
(No idea who that guy was. The song is by Hoagy Carmichael).

Did anyone follow that huge row i just has with Nooman, over at “Socialist Unity”, when he accuse me of being a “racist” for defending Martin Amis? A chasllenged him to a public debate. Now all trace of our exchanges has disappered from Nooman’s site…weird, or what?

I think Volty has disappeared in despair! Not really odd about Newman’s – he’s been deleting lots of things.

Jim,
Count yourself lucky, imagine it had been Soviet Russia with Commissar Newman in charge?
remember the Stalinist school of falsification?
that’s why I never comment on the SU blog, the high handed, uneven and capricious moderation is very offputting
I read it avidly but you can’t be too sure your comment won’t be deleted or changed to suit the political whims of the site owner?

If you want to see something depressing head over to Liam’s and see the discussion on Galloway’s sexist remarks. It’s been impossible to get a straight answer from the SRers as to whether or not they are going to hold him to account and if so – how? and also whether they are going to mount a campaign to fight for a woman’s right to choose – which means they would have to ensure that Galloway did not vote against pro-choice legislation or vote in favour of the anti-choice legislation that is coming up.

TWP,
I should add that I have been following the Galloway’s “knickers” comment thread and it is clear that many modern day socialist are loathe to criticise Galloway’s stupid and sexist remarks, even going to the extent of partly defending them or deflecting any blame
a sad indictment of the Left
apart from a few token efforts I doubt that they’ll be much support from the Respect Renewal types in the woman’s right to choose campaign?
of course, politically I expect they’ll do SOMETHING, just a feeble effort, just as a token
I think the pull of political power in Respect Renewal shows what people are prepared to drop or hush up for the sake of expediency, very Blair like

Well my head hurts after arguing over at Liams. But to be fair he created a post and has let there be a debate without deleting comments.
Anyway…Volty !!
I hear he is in secret talks to join the SWP. He will of course need a new identitiy and a plastic surgeon is on standby:-)

Is Volty in talks to take on the job of managing the England football team? The only job more difficult than uniting the British micro left.
BTW Amis remarks are racist. Not an issue. And reading over London Fields again recently their are some dodgy (racist) caricatures there too.
And for balance Galloway’s remarks sound sexist to me and I’m not to impressed with his view on abortion either.

Is Volty OK?
It wasn’t that long ago that he posted a pissed off with life post on the blog. I just put it down to the fact that he was living in the Midlands.
